Kris King Photography
About Us

Photographer Kris King has covered jazz festivals throughout North America and the Caribbean for twenty-five years. Specializing in 'live' concert portraits, King conveys the intimacy and art of music through her images; to feel the connection between a musician and his or her instrument or voice, to see what she hears and enjoy those special moments that are fleeting but for the click of the lens. King's embrace of photography does not stop at the concert hall door, as an avid traveler, King also records a destination's flora and fauna, the people and events wherever she goes - she goes with camera in hand.

King worked most of her life in the music industry as a record promoter; she also worked with the Pointer Sisters, radio stations, jingle houses and recording studios. Jazz Journalists Association nominated King for 'Photograph of the Year' several times, her photographs have also appeared in books, magazines, newspapers, CD covers and billboards. She is a member of Jazz Journalists Association, Canadian Association of Journalists and Editorial Photographers.

King recently won the Jazz Journalist's Association's  'Best Photo of the Year Award 2009' for the 'Hank Jones at the Montreal Jazz Festival 2008' photo.

In March 2006, King launched eJazz Travel, an on-line travel magazine that combines her love of music, photography, travel and writing in hopes of enticing others to take a vacation and enjoy the great sounds of a jazz festival while you are there.  www.ejazztravel.com
